Tributes were paid to a young mother who died after plunging from a top-floor flat, as police today continued to question a man on suspicion of murdering her.

Annabelle Lancaster, 22, died at the scene after falling from an eighth-floor window at the tower block in Enfield.

Friend Stephanie Roberts today said Ms Lancaster, who had a three-year-old daughter, had worked as a receptionist at a dental clinic before her death on Sunday evening.

“She was just the most hilarious, energetic, gorgeous girl,” Ms Roberts told the Standard.

“We met as neighbours and we’ve been best friends for five to six years. Our daughters are best friends as well. She was just the light of the room.

“She always made everybody laugh and feel welcome, and she was a lovely girl.

“We had a very close relationship, I was with her nearly every day, and we lived with each other at one point.”

Ms Roberts said she was in shock at Ms Lancaster’s death, adding: “I still can’t get my head round it. She was a stunning, beautiful and amazing mother. She and her daughter were very close. She literally lit up the room, wherever she was, she just made everything fun.

“She was just the perfect friend, someone you could always count on, any time you needed her she would be there in a flash.” Ms Lancaster’s relatives last night gathered at a family home in north London and were too upset to speak.

Tributes and flowers were left at the scene beside a forensic tent that remained in the car park where Ms Lancaster’s body was found.

One note read: “My beautiful sister, I love you so much, we’re broken. God had gained a beautiful angel. Aiyana will be safe. I love you so much.”

Another tribute read: “Our darling princess, you shined like a star from the moment you opened your eyes till the moment you closed them. We love you darling.”

A 26-year-old man, who was known to the victim, was being questioned by police after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
