Warm welcome at Frost Fair

Snow kidding: a sled pulled by Siberian huskies will be on show at the Frost Fair

Re-established four years ago, the Bankside Frost Fair harks back centuries to those harsh winters when the Thames froze over and Londoners took to the ice.

Rather than taking place beneath London Bridge, the new version is on terra firma between Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe.

There's no bear-baiting, but the Bard would probably have approved of this year's big attraction: dog sledding, with children under 12 able to ride on a sled pulled by Siberian Huskies.

A lantern parade, Clipper boats on the Thames,
ice-sculpting displays, street theatre, mulled wine plus a variety of Christmas gift stalls should make it an enjoyable Yuletide experience.
